Adidas has officially revealed the Trionda Pro, the match ball that will be used throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026. The name "Trionda" — derived from "tri" (three) and "onda" (wave in Spanish) — pays tribute to the three host nations and the wave of football passion sweeping across North America.

Design and Inspiration

The Trionda Pro features a striking design that incorporates the red, white, blue, and green colors representing the flags of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Swirling patterns evoke the diverse landscapes of the three countries — from Mexican deserts to Canadian mountains to American coastlines.

"Every World Cup ball tells a story," said Adidas Head of Football Design. "The Trionda represents the coming together of three nations united by their love of football. It's our most advanced ball ever, designed for the biggest stage."

Technology

The ball incorporates Adidas' most advanced technology to date:

  • Connected Ball Technology: A suspended inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor sits at the ball's core, providing real-time data to match officials for offside and handball decisions via VAR.
  • SPEEDSHELL: The 20-panel textured polyurethane surface features micro and macro textures optimized for aerodynamic consistency at all speeds.
  • CTR-CORE: A new bladder design ensures consistent rebound and shape retention across varying altitudes — critical for a tournament played from sea level in Miami to 7,200 feet in Mexico City.

Altitude Tested

One of the unique challenges of this World Cup is the altitude variation across venues. The Trionda Pro has undergone over 2,000 hours of testing at different elevations to ensure consistent flight characteristics whether played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (sea level) or Estadio Azteca in Mexico City (2,240 meters).

Legacy

The Trionda joins an illustrious lineage of World Cup match balls, from the Telstar in 1970 to the Al Rihla in Qatar 2022 and the Brazuca in Brazil 2014. Collectors and fans can purchase replica versions now through authorized retailers.

A special "Trionda Finals" variant — featuring gold and silver detailing — will be used from the quarterfinals onward.
